Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle offers an extraordinarily rich and varied day out, all on one site. A visit to the Castle includes the magnificent State Apartments. Which are furnished with some of the finest works from the Royal Collection. Among the masterpieces are paintings by Holbein, Rubens and Van Dyck, fine English and French furniture, and the tiny treasures of Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House.

During the winter months, the sumptuous private apartments created by George IV, the Semi-State rooms are added to the visitor route.

Please note: that admission to Windsor Castle is busiest immediately after opening and throughout the morning. We recommend you arrive after midday if possible.

Windsor Castle will be closed on the following dates in 2020:

9 – 10 April; 5 May; 15 June; 25 – 26 December

Windsor Castle will close early on the following dates:

6 March 2020 (last admission 15:00, last admission to State Apartments 15:30, closes 16:00)

State Apartments closed:

14 – 16 June 2020

Semi-State Rooms closed:

16 April 2020

St George’s Chapel closed in 2020:

9 March; 8 April; 10 April (opens 14:00, closes 16:00); 11 April; 30 May (closes 13:00); 12-13 June; 1 August (closes 12:00); 23-24 December (closes 13:00)

Queen Mary's Dolls' House

Please note that due to work being undertaken, as part of Future Programme, Queen Mary's Dolls' House at Windsor Castle will be closed to visitors from Friday, 6 July 2018, until further notice.
